Update

Hello blog readers...
I am currently on day 2 of spring break, and thus far have completed the following:
- got a facial (divine)
- cooked a meal for the Maclennan fam
- cleaned out our silverware drawer (strange.... but there was sprinkles in it!!)
- practiced Chopin's Nocturne in E minor
- vacuumed and dusted our little apartment
- attempted to get my identity back (i think i have a little problem with my social security # being used by someone other than me)

And, I am about to knock on my lovely neighbors' door and ask to steal their puppy for a walk...
Tomorrow, Isaac and i will have banana bread coming out of our ears!!!

I love vacation :)

Spring To Do List...

Once again, my special affection for making lists prevails! So, what do I want to do over my spring break? Here's my (draft) spring-break-to-do-checklist.
  • Visit the Maclennan twinsies and parents
  • Shop!!! I have been craving a Nordstrom's rack trip for weeks now!
  • Go serve at the LB shelter with Ronda
  • Salsa dance with the sister
  • Connect with Nicole, Steph, Natalie & Kelly
  • Walk Kaylee-Bee
  • Set up skype so I can chat with Shea
  • Get Italy details in order
  • Palm Springs day trip with momma
  • Go to the driving range with daddy-o
  • Clean our carpets... yuck
  • Take lunch to my roomies at work
  • Finish A Tale of Two Cities
  • Cook... especially to transform the heaping pile of ripe bananas in our freezer into bread
  • Did I say relax?
To be continued...

Grammar Lessons from God

Being a high school graduate, (almost) college graduate, 3 year AP English student, and living-mate to two gifted teachers, I have had my fair share of grammar and punctuation lessons to boot. But, no English lesson has profoundly struck me as these 2 little gems have:

1. Don't put a comma where God puts a period.
2. Don't put a period where God puts a comma.

I am learning to trust and rely on the fact that He is the author of our living epistles, and knows just what punctuation is perfect!

Amen to this!

Break my heart and make it clean,
Open up my eyes to the things unseen.
Show me how to love like you have loved me.

Break my heart from what breaks yours,
Everything I am for your kingdom's cause.
As I walk from nothing to eternity.

Florence, Here I Come!

Ciao! Incase you were curious as to exactly what I will be doing in Florence, here are the details....
I will be living in Florence, Italy for a month, studying at the Apicius Culinary Institute. I'll be living in an apartment there, taking classes, going on wine tours, and will pretty much be living in a kitchen. While there, I will be studying the following:
  • Italian cooking
  • Italian wine
  • Italian language, art, and history
Sounds like it's exactly up my alley, doesn't it? I can't wait!!!!!!
Florence, here I come!

* the above picture will be my home/classroom for the month of June!

The Curse of State Schools

Every school quarter, when it's time to register for classes, I become a complete and total spaz. The blasted piece of paper that lists all my required courses haunts my dreams and causes me to break out in a panicked sweat.
Registering for the Spring quarter was an especially fun experience for me- let's just say there were two, not one, but TWO pre-requisite courses I realized I have yet to take to secure my chances of graduating before I turn 30. But, the perfect solution was offered, which would cure all my problems- I could take a proficiency exam which would allow me to test out of these cursed classes. How hard can Microsoft Excel be, right?
Well, after studying all night and morning, arriving to school while it was still dark, sitting on the pavement in 35 degree weather while waiting for the test proctor to arrive, and finally feverishly pouring over the 3 hour long exam.....and FAILING by 2%, I decided that God must have a better plan for my schooling than I do.
I know, He must be up there chuckling about what a dork of a girl he created in me. I am SO excited for the next few quarters at Cal Poly (or 10+ quarters, at this rate), because I know God must have a very intentional plan for me! :)

Grocery Stores= Love

I am not ashamed to admit that one of my favorite activities in the entire universe is grocery store shopping!!! It gives me a thrill to peruse the aisles, check out the hottest sales, and mosey along without a care in the world, or a thing on my mind but FOOD! I don't even have to purchase any items to experience the great pleasure that supermarkets bring to my soul. Maybe I should advertise my food shopping-skills in the Penny Saver?

Hello, Rilla!

This is Rilla, my little amaryllis. She is my friend- I daily water her, provide her with ample sunshine, and even chat with her. Who knows when, how, or even if she will grow to be tall and strong, but I have high hopes for this little girl.
